Meet Marissa
I’m a Superhost and short-term rental consultant who helps property owners turn their homes into high-performing vacation rentals.
My own Airbnb in Washington, DC is now recognized as a Guest Favorite and ranked in the top 10% of homes on Airbnb in one of the most competitive markets in the country. That success is what inspired me to start Hosted by Marissa, where I work with owners to improve performance, increase bookings, and create reliable income from their properties.
But my story with hosting really begins much earlier
I grew up in Bethany Beach, Delaware — a small beach town that shaped so much of who I am. Summers were spent running around the beach with my sister, and my first jobs were classic beach-town roles: pool lifeguarding at Sea Colony, serving frozen custard at Dickey’s on the boardwalk, and eventually becoming one of the few women at the time to serve as an ocean lifeguard on the Bethany Beach Patrol.
After college I moved to Washington, DC, where I built a career as an Executive Producer at Discovery. Over the years I worked on everything from true crime documentaries to the Puppy Bowl. Producing television taught me something that still guides my work today: great stories capture attention.
That same principle applies to short-term rentals.
Successful listings don’t just exist — they tell a story that attracts the right guests.
When my husband and I turned our DC home into an Airbnb, we learned quickly how powerful thoughtful hospitality and smart positioning can be. What started as an experiment became one of the most rewarding experiences we’ve had.
Today, I help owners do the same.
I work with a small portfolio of properties — no more than ten at a time — so every client receives my full attention. My focus is on the markets where I live and work: Washington, DC, Bethany Beach, and Rappahannock County.
When you work with me, you’re not getting a large property management company. You’re getting a partner who understands how to combine hospitality, strategy, and storytelling to make a property truly stand out.
If you're ready to turn your home — or even just an extra room (hello, empty nesters!) — into a source of real income, I'd love to hear from you.
